MARY ELLEN MARTIN Suddenly, on Christmas Eve 2008, our dear mother and nana, Mary Ellen Martin (nee Barry), passed away, at the Victoria Hospital, in Winnipeg. Mary was born on April 12, 1921, a daughter to Michael and Viola (Voy) Barry. She lived happily in Winnipeg, cheerfully enjoying her life right to the end. Mother's caring nature drew her into nursing and at the Misericordia Hospital she met her husband of 52 years, Dr. Jack Martin. They raised three children together and it was in caring for her family that Mom devoted her life. She is survived by her son Michael Martin (Lynne) and their three children, Kristen, Grant (Melissa) and their daughter Mackenzie, and Todd and his fiancée Katie. She is survived as well by her daughter Marilyn Huska (Richard) and their two sons, David and Bryan Huska, and her daughter Leslie Stevenson (Tom) and their two sons, Paul Stevenson (Amy) and Brad Stevenson (Sol) and their children, Hannah and Jack. She is also survived by her beloved brother Bernard Barry and his wife Joan, who were her lifelong friends; her sisters, Deedee Coughlin and Theresa Paul; and her sister-in-law Pat Barry; as well as, many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her dear husband Jack in 1999; her sister Viola Boyle; two brothers, Al Barry and Joe Barry; as well as, brothers-in-law, Jack Boyle, Frank Coughlin, and sister-in-law Doris Barry. At Mom's request there will be no funeral. Those who wish to do so may donate to the charity of their choice.
