Date of Passing: Dec 28, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA BARON (HOSHOWSKI) Our Angel Peacefully, on Sunday, December 28, 2008, at the age of 87, Olga left us to join her husband John (the love of her life), who left her all too soon, in 1973 and her daughter Corinne, in 1996. Olga was born on June 12, 1921 in Winnipeg to two loving parents, Walter and Bertha Hoshowski. She was raised in the Brooklands / Weston area and later in married life moved to the West End, and finally, for her remaining 25 years, in the St. James area. Olga had a great love for life and travel. She was very involved with the Orioles Community Club Bingo, and later, the Sturgeon Creek Community Club, thus her nickname Olga Bingo Baron. Olga treasured her three outings a week to Sturgeon Creek, where she loved being with all the ladies, and especially, her time spent with Marlene. She was an avid bowler for years at Mosienko Bowling Lanes, the captain of her team, and the driving force behind the team's overall championship win of a trip to Las Vegas. She loved travelling to Grand Forks, Las Vegas, her casino bus trips, and any chance she could get to ride the rails to Vancouver and Windsor, where every second year she would go to spend a month with her dear cousin Jean and family. To Olga there was nothing better than travelling by train. Olga's wit and sense of humour was also known to many. In any given conversation you could be sure you'd end up laughing. Olga was famous for her Ukrainian cooking and Belgian waffles and her daily ritual, morning walks to McDonald's for the best coffee. Known to all as Bama, she will be forever missed by her devoted daughter Beverley (Jerry) Proctor; grandchildren, Chenoa (Terry) Deegan, Shawn (Darlene) Proctor and Shosheena Proctor; her great-grandchildren, Reidmen, Lauren, Garrett (her Little Wayne Gretzky), and Madison Proctor; as well as, brother Moe (Deanna) and numerous other family and friends. She will also be missed by her longtime companion Doncha (her Little Peepee). Immediate cremation has taken place with a private interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations would be graciously accepted at the Children's Wish Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society. Bama, forever you will live in our hearts, we love you. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
