WILLIAM (BILL) JOHN LYONS August 11, 1940 December 18, 2008 It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of William John Lyons, on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at the Concordia Hospital, at the age of 68 years. Bill leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 45 years, Jean; their children, Billy (Angie), Cathy (Rick) Pososki, Rob and Scott (Kelly); grandchildren, Devin, Sarah, Justin, Jessica, Kyle, Tyler, Keely, Chloe and Lucas; his sister Pat (Mike) Dudas and family, of Parry Sound. Bill was predeceased by his parents, William and Lillian; sister Gerry Boyle and daughter-in-law Jackie. Bill was born and raised in St. James. As a boy, he played football for the West End Rams, club hockey in St. James and caddied at Polo Park Golf Course. Bill worked at City Hall from 1959 1992 then worked at Manitoba Zoning Officials Association for 13 years, as Vice President and as Executive Director for Transcona Biz for five years. Bill was a dedicated Civic league curler of 48 years, an active member of Oxford Heights Community Club, where he participated in Senior baseball, and a faithful fan to his children and grandchildren, in all activities, available night or day to assist them. He enjoyed a good game of cards, his pool and yard, and chatting with the neighbours. Bill was dogs best friend. Bill was taken from us much too soon. Special thanks to Dr. N Mercier, to Homecare workers and the staff at Poseidon and Park Manor Personal Care Homes. Cremation has taken place. Please join us in a celebration of Bill's life at Oxford Heights Community Club, 359 Dowling Ave. E., Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish, donations may be made in Bill's memory to Alzheimers Society of Manitoba or a charity of one's choice. Transcona Funeral Chapel, in care of arrangements.
