Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFAYE CRISP (nee DISHER) 1911 - 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sarah Faye Crisp at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg on December 29, 2008 at the age of 97. Faye was predeceased by her husband Alfred Al ; her parents Thomas and Florence; her sons John and David; her daughter Florence Bleich; her sisters Iva (Preston) Johnson and Norma (Bill) Barrett and her niece Marion Quinn. Faye will be greatly missed by her daughter-in-law Carolyn; grandchildren Allen, Dale, Dean, Geoffrey (Joan), Joel (Rachel), Karen (Byron) and great-granddaughters Jasmine, Hannah and Alina Faye; by her nieces Carolyn Culp and Marie MacPherson, nephews George Barrett and Roy Johnson and their extended families and her many friends. Born in North Pelham, Ontario on January 30, 1911, Faye was raised on the family farm and was the youngest of the three children. There was a big age gap between Faye and her two sisters and as a result she developed a strong independent streak that carried her through her life. Faye and Al raised their three children in Hamilton, Ontario on Knox Street. They would pack the kids, and later the grand kids, off to the cottage at Springhurst Beach on Georgian Bay. The cottage was openly shared with friends and family. Faye retired in the late 1970's after working for Sears for 25 years. After retiring she sold her Knox Street house and the cottage and moved to Burlington. In 1991 she moved to Winnipeg, for health reasons, where she would be closer to immediate family members. Shortly after arriving in Winnipeg she became an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church where she made many friends. In 2002 Faye moved to Lindenwood Manor where she quickly made friends with other residents and staff members and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Faye loved to knit and crochet and made numerous Afghans and sweaters for family members and for charitable causes. She was an avid reader and recently began re-reading all the books on her book shelf. The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion during her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrews Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice. A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11.00 a.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 709 St. Mary's Road. Neil Bardal Inc. 204-949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
