ROBERT ERLE MCLEOD 1919 - 2008 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Robert (Bob) McLeod on December 29, 2008. Robert was predeceased by Gladys, his wife of 52 years; his parents, Reginald and Jennie; his brothers, Leonard and Murray; and his sister Beatrice. Robert is survived by daughters, Barbara, Shirley (Kris) Benidickson; son Robert (Valerie); granddaughter Kirsten Benidickson; sister Maud Lavineway; nieces and nephews. Robert was born January 13, 1919 and was raised on the family farm in Shoal Lake Municipality, Manitoba. He served with the Royal Canadian Engineers from 1941 to 1945 in England and Holland. On returning he married Gladys in 1947 and settled in Winnipeg. He was a skilled carpenter and was employed by Qualico Construction for 41 years, retiring in 1991. With his retirement years filled with friends, family and his beloved cat Cody, Robert enjoyed activities at the West End Seniors Centre, volunteering with the Canadian Red Cross and most of all helping many, many people with building and fixing things of all types. He will be fondly remembered as the neighbourhood handyman. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
