Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLORIA ANNE PALMER It is with great sadness, that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved sister and aunt, Gloria Palmer, on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home, at the age of 78. Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Toni Palmer. Gloria leaves to cherish her memory, sister Virginia Dowler, of Saskatoon; nephew John Dowler (Dolores), of Victoria, and son Chris; nephew Cameron Dowler (Cathy), of Calgary, and children, Matthew, Sarah and Lilly; brother Jack Palmer (Judy B.), of Winnipeg; Matthew and Valerie, of Winnipeg; niece Pamela Philpot (Duncan), of Winnipeg, and children, Lima and Emma; niece Holly Cooper (David), of Coquitlam, and children, Nolan and Reid. Gloria also has many cousins and friends, who will remember her fondly. Cousin Tony Wynberg's cheerful visits brought Gloria a lot of pleasure. Gloria was born and raised, the first few years in Winnipeg, then North Battleford, SK, and Regina, SK, returning to Winnipeg with the family in 1948, where she resided until her passing. Gloria worked briefly for Eaton's but spent the majority of her working life at Powell Equipment as a Clerk Typist, and latterly, as a VON Homemaker. Gloria had a generous and loving spirit. She cherished her family, and each and every one important to her. Gloria got such pleasure, and never tired of telling stories from when she and her sister and brother were growing up in North Battleford, Regina and, in Winnipeg, on Garfield Street. Gloria never forgot family times together and would remember special events in every detail. Gloria was especially, excited to see her extended family at the August, 2008, Palmer family reunion. She was delighted in giving special gifts to her nieces and nephews for birthdays and Christmas, always asking nothing for herself. Even when she wasn't able to shop, she insisted on making sure her family was taken care of. Gloria enjoyed all her life the Dutch side of the family, especially, sing songs with accompaniment from banjos, harmonicas and Auntie Anne , on the piano. Having a great voice, she sang in both the John Black Memorial and Oxford United churches. Though she was in considerable pain the last few months, Gloria never complained. When asked how she was doing, she always replied that she was feeling fine. Celebration of Gloria's life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue West at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home for the support and care they gave to Gloria. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Gloria's name, to a charity of one's choice. FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS, IN CARE OF: WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVE. WEST (at Bond) 224-1525
