RANDA MINKIN With deepest sorrow, her family wishes to announce the sudden passing of Randa Gail Minkin, beloved daughter, sister, niece and fiancé, at Health Sciences Centre on December 5, 2008. Randa, 47, is mourned by her mother Beverly, brother Shane and her fiancé David McIntyre. Randa was a loving daughter, sister, niece and fiancé who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her father Raymond in September 2004. A Halloween baby, Randa was born on October 31, 1961 and grew up in Garden City. She attended Morrison School and graduated from West Kildonan Collegiate. After graduating from Red River College, Randa worked as a book-keeper and office manager for several local businesses. Randa loved entering, and winning, contests and attending classic rock concerts, most recently Neil Young and Bob Dylan. Tragically, Randa's life changed forever in 2003 when she woke up one morning and could no longer see -- diabetes had taken her sight. Randa struggled with health issues and the sudden loss of her father over the past five years. A little more than a year ago, one of Randa's health-care workers suggested she call a fellow who had also lost his sight to diabetes. This phone call began a whirlwind romance that had Randa and David planning a wedding for June 21, the same day Randa's parents and maternal grandparents were married. Randa, my love, in each other, we found our best friend, soulmate and one-and-only true love. Even though we only had a year together, we gave each other more than we ever thought we would have in a lifetime. We showed each other the real meaning of true, unconditional love. You will always be in my heart and thoughts until the day we are reunited in heaven. Please wait for me, my sweet angel. I love you and miss you very much, your loving fiancé David. The family would like to thank Randa's health-care workers Lynn, Donna, Heather, Irene and Anne from the CNIB. Funeral services were held on December 9, 2008 at Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be made to the CNIB or the Canadian Diabetes Foundation. We love you, Randa! We miss you!
