Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJULIETTE SIMPSON Peacefully, of old age (97), Juliette Amanda Simpson (neé Duguay) died at Taché Centre, on December 31, 2008. Left to mourn her death are her three children: Claudette (George), Joël (Diana), Denise (Dave); grandchildren Karen, Colleen (Wade), Maureen, Sheila (Ron), Ross (Debi), Michael (Erika), Stephen, John (Diana), Jeff, Heather (Frank); great-grandchildren Steven, Melanie, Travis, Paula, Olivia, Grace; Juliette's sister Aurore Collette, her only surviving sibling; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) on June 8, 2008. Mom was born December 4, 1911 in a log house on a farm in Ste. Anne des Chênes, MB. She was one of eleven children of Mastai and Clementine Duguay. Her working career was brief. At 18, she worked at the St. Joseph's Orphanage run by the Grey Nuns. She would laugh as she remembered being paid $10/month. She also worked in the office of St. Roche's Hospital. She met Robert (Bob) Simpson at a barn dance and they married in Winnipeg on November 29, 1937 in St. Nicholas Church, in a double wedding ceremony with her brother Aimé and his fiancée, Julie. They shared 70 plus years of marriage, including one last month reunited together in Taché, a grace note in their marriage. Mom's life was long on living every day with great style and grace. She lived for her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, mom loved all of the holidays and traditions. Christmas was one of her favourites, making hand-made Xmas bows and including her doughnut holes (from her home-made doughnuts), with each family's gifts. For Easter, she would blow out each regular egg and then painstakingly fill them with chocolate and then colour the eggs to delight children and grandchildren. A wonderful cook, she set a tasty table in her home where all were welcome. A lover of music, she could play the piano, violin and the guitar by ear. Her flower gardens were beautiful and admired by many, even if dad mowed them down occasionally by mistake. Mom was an amazing seamstress and subscribed to French fashion magazines. She sewed both of her daughters' wedding dresses, and was known to copy outfits and sew them without a pattern. She always dressed with great panache and received compliments on her clothes and jewellery wherever she went. One of her great passions was quilt making. Hand-sewn, all of her children and grandchildren are proud to own one of her creations. Her Catholic faith held her steady in all the ups and downs of a long and valued life; a gift she shared with her children. We thank you mom for all of the gifts of the long life you shared with us. We will miss you and love you always. The family is grateful to Dr. C. Lowden and the homecare team who looked after Mom before she resided in Taché Centre. Special thanks to Eveline, spiritual care and all the staff of 4 ABC Taché Centre for their always respectful and tender care and comfort. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary Mother of the Church Parish at 85 Kirkbridge Drive, on Friday, January 9 at 11:00 a.m. Glen Lawn Funeral Home in care of arrangements. You shall be my special possession (Ex: 19:5) GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550
