DORIS MAY ROY (BILLANEY) With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Doris Roy on Friday January 2, 2009 at 94 years of age. Granny was born in Witheronsea, York, England on October 25, 1914. She immigrated to Canada when she was six years old and settled in Winnipeg. She married Leslie Roy and raised a family with him. After retirement they moved to Victoria, BC where they spent many happy years until Grandpa's death. Doris returned to Winnipeg where she spent her remaining years. Granny taught piano for many years and was active in her church. She passed on her sense of humour and her love of all things dessert. She will be missed by her three children: James Roy (Winnipeg), Judy Taylor (Paxton, MA), and Doug Roy (Vancouver, BC). She is survived by six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and her one year old great-great-grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapel, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doris may be made to the charity of your choice.
