DORA MAY ROPER It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dora Roper at the age of 86 years on January 4, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, George, four days earlier, by her daughter Sandra, her brothers, Ken and George, and a grandson Jeffery. Left to cherish her memory is daughter Lynn (Wayne), sister Alice, son-in-law Richard, good friend Rose-Marie, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was born in Peguis and married George in 1953. They moved a great deal to different army postings until George's retirement from the army, when they built their home in East Selkirk. Mom fostered both seniors and children in their home for many years. She enjoyed being outside with her dogs and watching nature in the woods around their home. When Dora's health failed she moved to the Tudor Home in Selkirk where she was well looked after and made many friends. We would like to extend our thanks for all the tender loving care she received at Tudor Home and the Selkirk General Hospital. A memorial service will be held for both George and Dora on Tuesday January 6, 2009 at 1:00 pm in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in her memory. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
