JAMES (JIM) FRASER Peacefully with family by his side on January 1, 2008, James (Jim) Fraser, aged 84 years of Hilbre, MB, passed away at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, MB. Jim was born in Winnipeg to Alexander and Jemimah (Wright) Fraser. In his younger years he farmed and drove for a logging camp in Ontario. He worked many years as an engineer for Fresh Water Fish until his retirement. He travelled in this position to the northern fish camps where he ultimately met his devoted wife, Anne. They lived in Arborg, MB for approximately 12 years and moved back to Hilbre to retire. They did some farming and had bought cattle from his brother Alex. He worked very hard at everything he did. Family meant everything to Dad. He loved to tell stories of his experiences. There were so many stories to tell, you would never hear the same story twice. Dad also loved the outdoors and driving around on his 4-wheeler. He enjoyed spending time in his garage just tinkering with things. The only time he could be found inside was to eat or take a break. Snacks in the evening were his favourite. His is survived by his children, Phillip Wood (Sylvia), Loretta Fraser (George Kanski), James Fraser (Alann Murray), Sharlene Fraser (Jay Thompson); his grandchildren, Joshlyn, Natalie, Daniel, Bianca, Tatianna, Chris, Jenna, Brooke and Chayse; nephews Bob and Bim Fraser; and a niece Joane Fotty, along with numerous other family members. Jim was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Jemimah, a brother Alex in 1986 and a brother Donald in 1999. In keeping with Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the Dr. Ramadan and staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lakeshore Hospital Guild, in care of Julie Bergner, Box 721, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0 (for use in the Palliative Care Unit).
