KRISTMUNDER (KRIS) JOHNSON Peacefully, on the evening of January 3, 2009, Kris left our world to join his beloved wife, Ethel who also left us on October 24, 2002. He was predeceased by his mother Helga and father Valdimar, grandson Kelly Mitchell of Winnipeg, brother-in-law, Richard Hiebert of Calgary, and niece Sheila Curtis of Edmonton. Kris leaves to mourn his passing, daughter Carol (Jim) Patrick of Winnipeg, sister Lilja Hiebert of Calgary, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephew. Kris was born in Selkirk on August 13, 1928. He lived at Hecla Island, where he worked as a commercial fisherman for many years. He also worked in Gimli in construction. Kris moved to Winnipeg and obtained a carpenters diploma at RRCC. He was employed by the government until his retirement in April 1992. Kris was a devoted husband, loving father, and a kind and generous grandfather and great- grandfather. Kris was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Winnipeg and enjoyed the many activities provided. He enjoyed dancing, social activities, traveling and he also enjoyed having a beer at the Lincoln with friends and co-workers. Kris was also an active member of the Wellness Center in Winnipeg. Much thanks to Maples Staff for their care and support. He will be missed by all and will live forever in the memories we all share with him. Donations in lieu of flowers to Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, Unit 10, 120 Donald St. Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. A celebration of Kris's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 580 Victor St., Winnipeg on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 with a reception to follow. Viewing will be held at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Pallbearers: David Tomasson, Lloyd Kiesman, Travis Kiesman, Corey Patrick, Mark Ratz and Brian Darragh.
