STEPHAN (STEVE) HORON December 29, 1924 - January 3, 2009 Suddenly, but peacefully, on January 3, 2009 at the age of 84 years, Steve Horon passed away at his residence in East Selkirk, MB. Steve is survived by his wife of 48 years, Olga, his daughter Nancy (Milan) Lovenjak and grandsons Bryce and Luke, his daughter Irene (Rick) Horon, his two cousins, Anne Cyr and Greg Halabut here in Canada and many cousins in Ukraine. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Mike, Harry and Nick and by his three sisters, Anne, Mary and Pearl in Ukraine. Steve was born on December 29, 1924 to John and Katherine Horon in the village of Malniwska Wola, R. Mostyska, Ob. Lwiska in Western Ukraine. During the war Steve was in Germany and in England. He immigrated to Canada in 1948. He came to Poplarfield first and he then worked in Saskatchewan on the CP Railroad. He started working at the Manitoba Rolling Mill in 1950 and married Olga Sturzbecher in 1960. He worked at MRM for 36 accident-free years before retiring in 1986. Steve loved spending time with his family and friends, and gardening. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 8 at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, East Selkirk, MB, with Fr. Isadore Dziadyk officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Vichnaya Pam'yat Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
