HOWARD GRANT WHARF (GRANT) It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Grant Wharf, on January 1, 2009. Grant leaves to mourn his children, Patricia, Debra, Heather-Marie (Raymond Hacault), Douglas; sisters-in-law, Olive Wharf, and Charlotte Jasper; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Elaine; parents, Elizabeth and John James (Jack); brother William (Bill) and grandson Alexander. Grant was born January 8, 1923 on the family farm in Fisherton, MB. In February 1941 he enlisted in the Army until December 1945. After returning home from the Second World War he moved back to Fisherton to farm with his parents. In February 9, 1957 he married his soul mate, Elaine Jasper. He resided in Winnipeg until April 1960 when he moved back to Fisherton to farm with Elaine and raised his family. Grant was a lifetime member of the Hodgson Legion #158, Fisherton Community Centre, Fisherton Cemetery, board member of Riverdale Place Workshop and member of the Fisherton Horse Club. Grant enjoyed spending time with nature, hunting, fishing, and doing other outdoor activities. He also enjoyed, tremendously, traveling throughout the world. Funeral services to be held on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ukrainian National Home, Fisher Branch, MB. Burial will take place in Fisherton Cemetery. Rev. Barry Bear and Stephanie Hyde will be officiating.
