ANN ELIZABETH DONOVAN July 11, 1943 - January 3, 2009 The family announces, with deep sadness, the passing of Ann Elizabeth Donovan, January 3, 2009, at Selkirk General Hospital, in Selkirk, MB. Born at Glace Bay, NS, Ann grew up in Summerside, PEI and Chatham, NB, and later attended nursing school in eastern Quebec. Love and marriage took her to Western Canada where she would spend the rest of her life. Ann (who was also known as Betty), lived and worked in many locales including Dana and Saskatoon, SK, and Churchill, Winnipeg, Oxford House and Selkirk, MB. Ann retired in 2008 after many happy and dedicated years nursing at the Middlechurch Home, in West St. Paul, MB. Ann will be remembered as a gentle, loving and sincere individual who placed great value upon kindness, faith and friendship. She was happiest in the company of her grandchildren, or exploring the endless network of country backroads crisscrossing southern Manitoba in her red pickup truck. Throughout her life, Ann maintained a playful rebellious streak and a keen, complex sense of humour which she employed often during her brave, year-long struggle with cancer. Ann was predeceased by a brother Jimmy, in 1981, and her father Donald, in 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Monique Molgat, of St. Andrews; sons, Charles (Elizabeth) Molgat, of Toronto, and Gilles (Carmen) Molgat, of Kamloops; grandchildren: Cole and Eloise; mother Anne Donovan, of Dalhousie; brothers: Donald (Theresa), of Moncton, Bob (Marilyn), of Bathurst, and David, of Campbellton; sisters: Ella, of St. John, Jean (Robert) Campbell, of Newcastle, and Diane, of Dalhousie; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and her many, many close friends. The family extends a very special thank-you to staff at the Selkirk General Hospital. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Notre Dame Church, in Selkirk, MB, 269 Jemima Street with Fr. Dado Parrenas officiating. Prayers will take place a half-hour prior to the funeral service also in the church. Reception to follow in the church hall. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Just 3 days before Christmas. Sunday, December 22, 2024. Oh Anne, you would be so proud of your only Grandson Cole. He grew up to be a tall, fair and very handsome young man. He is the only help I have now when I make perogies. He has to help me, cause he can eat them by the pan full. We are finishing up the perogies today. Cole and I had very special help today, he brought his girlfriend Rachel to help. What awesome help they are. I wish you were still here. - Posted by: Carole Christiansen (The other Granny) (Good friend) on: Dec 22, 2024

  • Cole and I are sitting here remembering you Anne. Hard to believe you have been gone 12 years already. We are sharing many lovely memories of you. Your beautiful smile helped everyone to smile. Lloyd joined you on Christmas Day 2020. We fulfilled your request to be here for Cole. I wish you could see the fine Young Man he has grown into. We all miss you Anne. - Posted by: Carole Christiansen (The other Granny) on: May 07, 2021
