MERVIN DWAIN MAXWELL On December 23, 2008 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Mervin Dwain Maxwell passed away following a brief illness. A celebration of his life was held with his family and friends on December 29, 2008 in Grandview, Manitoba. Mervin was born in Grandview, Manitoba on November 5, 1948 the second son to Lloyd and Alice Maxwell. He received his formal education at Tamarisk School and Grandview High School. He then received a Diploma of Business Education from Red River Community College, after which he worked with INCO in Thompson and Gulf Oil in Alberta. Over time, he returned to pursue his education and acquired a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education and Masters of Education from the University of Manitoba, Ph. D. (candidate) from the University of British Columbia. He has been a teacher at Keewatin College in The Pas, Manitoba; Abbee Dabai, United Arab Emerites, and Red River Community College where at the time of passing he held the position of Coordinator in Teacher Education (CAE). Mervin was well respected as an adult educator and spent his career teaching the teachers. He was convinced teaching was a mutual learning and influenced generations of teachers and untold number of students. He loved his family, enjoyed long walks, cross-country skiing, and had an appreciation of fine arts and antiques. Mervin was predeceased by his mother, Alice in March 1993 and his step-mother Lois in February 2007. He is survived by his father Lloyd; brothers, Gary (Donna), Brian (Sylvia) of Grandview, Manitoba, Randy (Brenda) of Headingley, Manitoba; and one sister Bonnie of Vancouver, BC. He is also survived by his adoring nieces and nephews and his seven grand-nephews and one grand-niece. Lois's children, Maureen, Ian, Lyle and Laurel. In memory of Mervin, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Canadian Blood Services. The family extends a sincere thank you to all of Mervin's friends and family for their continuous love and support. To Rev.
