MARIA WIENS 1911 - 2009 Peacefully, with her family by her side, on January 6, 2009, Maria, passed away, at the age of 97. Maria is survived by her son-in-law Peter Pauls (Winnipeg); sisters, Aganetha Driedger (Germany), Margaritha Krahn (Pilot Mound), and Katharina Friesen (Winnipeg); sister-in-law Susa Wiens (Steinbach); four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Henry and only daughter Mary. Maria was born in Rosenheim, Russia on August 8, 1911 and immigrated to Canada in 1949. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Using her sewing skills to make clothes destined for orphaned children, through Mennonite Central Committee, brought her particular joy. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield Street, Winnipeg, with interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, available at the service.
