EVELYN ANN MAYCHER June 25, 1936 - January 5, 2009 An energetic and youthful soul changed its course on Monday January 5, 2009. Evelyn succumbed to the cancer that had surprised everyone in a body that had so rarely been sick. At 10:30 p.m. Ev opened her beautiful blue eyes one last time and with her husband of 50 years, Stan, holding her hand, was peacefully led by the angels to join her beautiful daughter Sandra in heaven. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Alex and Sybil Yustak; by her beautiful 3 year old daughter Sandra and by her grandbaby Zachary. Left to cherish Ev's memory but mourn her absence are her husband Stan; daughters, Brenda (Gerry Holowka), Cheryl (Vaughn White) and Nancy (Forge Francella) and grandchildren, Andrew, Alexandra, Quintana, Graeson, Rhonan, and Alessandra. Ev is survived by her brothers, Gordie (Eileen) and Ronnie (Joanne); nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and neighbors. Evelyn was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Ev's family and especially her grandchildren were a huge focal point in her life. She was an integral part in their lives and their activities. Whether it was shuttling someone to school, attending school functions and cheering them on at all sporting events, Ev made the grandchildren the centre of her universe. Ev was a proud homemaker and stayed home to raise her daughters until they were in school. At this point she embarked on her career as a paraprofessional. Her love of children made this job a joy. She loved being a para and worked at Emerson School for 20 years before retiring in 1993. Ev's retirement made for a smooth transition into her new career as a grandmother. Memorable summers were spent at Catastrophe Lake surrounded by her extended family and friends. Ev enjoyed casino junkets and frequent shopping excursions south of the border. She was a gorgeous, classy lady who was always dressed to the nine's. The family would like to acknowledge the Doctors and caregivers during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ev's favorite charity, The Siloam Mission, or a charity of your choice. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday January 9th at 3:00 p.m. at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church 264 Donwood Drive. Cremation has already taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date. White's Funeral Home Neepawa Carberry in care of arrangements 204-476-2848.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • My deepest condolences go out to my psychiatrist's neighbour Dr. Maycher on the passing of Mrs. Maycher. I remember taking a tour of the CancerCare Manitoba headquarters when I attended a kick-off party for the 5th Annual Challenge for Life while raising awareness for cancer research in memory of a family friend who happened to be my Educational Assistant and respite worker. - Posted by: Philip (Likes to do research) on: Nov 25, 2021

  • Stan and family Our sympathies are out to you and your family. Cal Kramble informed us that your wife had cancer. I read the obits in the Winnipeg paper everyday and came across this one today. My wife (Linda) and I are living in Calgary and have vacation homes in Penticton and Mesa, Arizona where we are right now. Next time in Winnipeg we will look you up. All the best for you in the years to come. Ron - Posted by: Ron Kletke (Family) on: Jan 09, 2009

  • To the Maycher family, my deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved wife, mother and grandmother. I grew up beside the Maycher family and remember with fondness Evelyn's generous, kind and friendly nature. They were like a second family to me and our families enjoyed many years growing together. Brenda and I were inseparable as girls and Evelyn always had her door open to me as well as her heart. She will be greatly missed. Your entire family is in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. - Posted by: Sandra Dyck (Friend) on: Jan 08, 2009

  • Dear Stan and Family Our thoughts are with you at this time of grief. Your loss of Evelyn for your children and grandchildren is something that will take time to heal. You all have to remember the happy times. I hope that God will give all of you peace in the coming days. All our love. Harry and Rose. - Posted by: Rosemary Johnson (Family) on: Jan 08, 2009
