Rita was predeceased by her beloved husband, David and her cherished daughter, Canda Lee. She will be forever loved and dearly missed by her children, Betty (Sue), Darryl (Karen), Shayne (Debbie) and Corey; grand-children Chad (Jolene) and Shelley (Rodney) and five great-grandchildren. Rita was born in Vassar, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg at a young age. In 1949 Rita married David Clement and raised their family in Transcona, where their home was a warm gathering place for friends, family and neighbours. Rita worked at the Transcona Golf and Country Club and in later years, the Eaton's Fur Salon. In 1985, Rita and Dave retired to their home town of Vassar and spent many enjoyable hours involved in community activities. Rita loved the outdoors, especially golf and fishing and her favourite pastimes were playing cards and dice with family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress until her stroke in 1996. Rita will be remembered for her generosity, good sense of humour and devotion to her family. She brought a smile to those around her and will be greatly missed. A special thanks to all the wonderful caregivers on A1 Appletree at Middle Church Home for their excellent and compassionate care. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Parish on 710 Roanoke Street on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if family and friends so desire, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L OK6.
