PATRICIA LONG November 27, 1939 January 3, 2009 The family announces the peaceful passing of a wonderful sister, mother and friend at Selkirk General Hospital. Patricia was born in Winnipeg then raised in Illinois along with her loving family of brothers and sisters. She continued her education at the University of Manitoba then soon after became the dedicated mother of four children. Later in life she was blessed with the joyous friendship and love of her special and awesome partner George Birkenshaw of Winnipeg. George gave Pat a wonderful sense of purpose and hope and was faithfully by Pat's side to her last moments. Patricia was predeceased by her parents Harold and Margaret Long and brothers Michael and Richard. She is survived by siblings, Virginia Mawhinney, Rosemary Spratt, Dennis Long and Kathleen Long. At Tricia's side during her final moments were siblings Dennis and Rosemary who will lovingly remember Tricia as a caring and intelligent sister with a playful, rebellious streak. She is also survived by her four children, Vincent, Joseph and James Jandrisch and Therese Willan and seven grandchildren, Cole, Copeland, Elise, Lucas, Samantha, Alexandra and Ruby. Her children will deeply miss their special mother and remember her love of life and of them, her intelligence and patience, a keen and complex sense of humor, her love of singing, bridge and anthropology and an intense spirituality. Patricia maintained a lifelong dedication to Catholicism and a deep faith in the Lord who will surely welcome her by his side. In celebration of Patricia, a funeral service will be held through Catholic Mass on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Memorial Church, 254 Arnold Avenue, Winnipeg. Reception to follow in the church then interment at St. Mary's Cemetery. Donation in lieu of flowers to Selkirk Palliative Care Program, Box 5000, 100 Easton Drive, Selkirk, MB R1A 2M2 and/or flowers to Thomson Funeral Home.   • Sincere sympathies to all the family! I'm so sorry I couldn't be with you. Pat & I were close friends at St Paul's College, making music together. My father taught French there and enjoyed her as a student. She was very bright and a very loving person. May she rest in peace!
