LILLIAN DYCHAKOWSKY Lillian Dychakowsky (nee Siwak) passed away peacefully at Middlechurch Home on January 4, 2009 at the age of 96. She was born and raised in the Angusville area of Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg where she met and married Dmytro (Matt) Dychakowsky in 1939. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Matt and all her brothers and sisters. Left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy are her daughter Pat (Ed Martens), three granddaughters Leslie (Keith Clark), V. Beth (Dan Donahue) and Jacquie (Bob Roberts), and seven great-grandchildren, Theodore and Christopher Clark, Calvin, Eliot, Tessa and Samuel Roberts and Liam Donahue Martens. Her other legacies are many, including a love of gardening with proof that remains at 86 Tamarind; a knack for taking scraps of materials and turning them into beautiful quilts that adorn many a room; a flair for story-telling as evidenced by the manuscripts left behind and the Winnipeg Free Press silver medal for a non-fiction writing; and her constant quest for adventure and learning, be it a driver's license earned at age 71, the several books she would read each month or the painting expeditions she took to the Whiteshell driving her own car. We the family very much appreciate the loving care she received from the staff on A2 at the Middlechurch Home. A service in remembrance of her life was held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2009 in the chapel at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg under the direction of Reverend Bev Ward. Cremation has taken place and the ashes will be distributed between Chapel Lawn and the gardens she helped create.
