JOHN (JACK) ADAMS Passed away peacefully, December 27, 2008 at Rocky View Hospital, Calgary. Beloved father of Debbie Adams (Charlie) and Brenda Smith (Wayne); Grampa to David Artz (Kim) and Mieka Artz (John); and Great-Grampa to Dominic and Declan, all of Calgary. Also survived by friends and relatives in Winnipeg. Predeceased in 2002 by his beloved wife of 60 years, Phyllis. Jack was born and raised in Winnipeg. He served in the R.C.A.F., was an avid skier and swimmer. His career involved him as a longtime member of the Opthalmic Dispensers of Manitoba. Jack, Phyllis and family shared many happy summers at cottages at Grand Beach and Belair. After retirement, they also spent wonderful annual vacations with friends in Hawaii. Jack could build or fix anything, and later in life started a new hobby of wood-turning which gave him many years of pleasure. With great devotion, he cared for Phyllis for five years as her health failed. At 88, he took on the challenge of moving to Calgary, to be close to his family. His final years were happy, living in a seniors' residence. A nurse once asked Dad if he lived alone and he replied, Nope - I live with 104 women! Our family has been graced with his love and guided by his values and principles. He will remain in our hearts and memory forever.
