MAX SPIGELMAN Max Spigelman, companion, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away peacefully at Tuxedo Villa on December 23, 2008 at the age of 96 years. He was predeceased in 1960 by his first wife Alice (Lebansky) and in 1977 by Ella (Palansky), his sons Martin and Manly and his step-son David. He was also predeceased by his sisters Kay Freedman, Tena Fleishman, Anne Kruger, Pearl Ross, Rose Levine and their husbands. Max, also known to many as Spiggy, is survived and missed by his son Steven and his stepson Earl, his daughters-in-law Phyllis Chuly, Kathryn Alexander, Judy Palansky, Lynne Spigelman and his loving companion of 32 years, Eve Stoller. He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews across Canada. A University of Manitoba gold medal winner in Electrical Engineering, Max's career with Winnipeg Hydro began in 1938 and ended with his retirement as Assistant General Manager in 1977. This illustrious career was only interrupted during the Second World War when he served as liaison officer with the Canadian Air Force in Washington, DC. Max's strength of character, pride and caring for his family and constant pursuit of knowledge have provided us all with a foundation which will continue to influence us in generations to come. We will miss you, Zaida Max. Contributions in Max's memory may be made to The University of Winnipeg 55 Plus Programme, Jewish Child and Family Services or a charity of choice.
