Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMELVIN DAVID JACOB KOSKIE 1927 2009 Peacefully and embraced by his family, on January 11, 2009, God opened his loving arms and took Dad home. Remaining to forever cherish Melvin's memory are: his loving wife Emily, their daughter Lorri, her husband Andy and their children Jordan and Adam; son David, his wife Deborah and their children, Carl and Ben. Melvin was predeceased by his father John, his mother Annie and his grandson Tyler. Dad was born in Winnipeg on October 23, 1927 and moved to the Anola area at an early age where he went to school and began to farm with his father. When he was 18 years old, Dad's father passed away suddenly, leaving him to care and provide for himself and his mother. Dad married Mom and continued farming into his later years until his struggle with Parkinson's Disease prevented him from doing what he loved so much. Dad also drove a school bus for 24 years with the Transcona Springfield School Division and was an active member of the Anola United Church. Dad was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was and will always be loved by all for his kindness, sincerity and quick wit. Dad always put his family before himself and taught us by example to care for people especially for those who were ill or alone, to help others when ever we could and to cherish family. Our Dad was a true gift from God. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Curtis Krahn and all the staff at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach for their compassionate care and also to the Home Care Workers that allowed Dad to remain in the comfort of his home for as long as he did. A service to celebrate Dad's life will be held on Friday, January 16, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street; burial at Millbrook Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at the Dugald Community Club. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Melvin's memory to the Bethesda Hospital, 316 Henry Street, Steinbach, MB, R5G 0P9 or to the Anola United Church, Box 147, Anola, MB, R0E 0A0. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
