Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN SUTHERN July 18, 1944 January 10, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Suthern at the age of 64 years. He passed away peacefully at home after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Mary Frances Suthern. He will be forever missed by his loving wife of 42 years Eileen; his children: Andrew Suthern (Tanis); Karen Richards (Greg); Angela Asselin (Andre); and loving grandchildren: Megan, Joshua and Morgan; his family in England - brother, Paul Suthern (Suzanne); his brother-in-law Terry Truman (Elaine) and his nieces and nephews; Auntie Eve Matthews; and his cousins Christine Manley (Lee) and Molly Dowdall (Charles); as well as many great friends and his two companions Brandy and Maggie. John was born in Stockton-on-Tees, England and immigrated to Toronto forty years ago, to work for the Toronto Dominion Bank. He was transferred to Winnipeg in 1987 and retired from his banking career in 1996. During his last few years, John received much enjoyment from his part time job as a school bus driver. John and Eileen had a rich loving relationship and family life, and loved to entertain and host dinner parties with their many friends. One of John's great loves was singing and playing guitar, and was a happy member of St. Mary Anglican Church choir for 20 years. Heartfelt thanks to the many wonderful friends and church family for their love, support, meals and prayers during these last few months. The family would also like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Robinson, Dr. Joshua, Dr. Borrett, Dr. Lipschitz, Dr. Hartley, Dr. Harris and the Grace Hospital Cancer Care team, the home care palliative team, particularly Louise and also the health care aides. Cremation has taken place and service of remembrance and reflection on John's life will be held at St. Mary Anglican Church, 3830 Roblin Blvd. Charleswood, Winnipeg on Saturday, January 17 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Gordon Dixon will officiate at the service. Interment of John's ashes will be a private family service at the Cathedral Church of St. John. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Anglican Church Memorial Fund , 3830 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3R 0E4 and specified Choir Robe Fund .
