KATHERINA IRENE LACOSTE CRABTREE (nee HEINRICHS) Peacefully, on January 13, 2009, at the age of 97, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away with family at her side. Katherina was predeceased by her first husband, Rosario (Rosy) Lacoste (August 21, 1963) and by her second husband, Fox Crabtree (October 15, 1985). Left to mourn her passing are her four children, Rene (Mary), Doreen, Johanna (beloved wife of the late Edward Byrne) and Lawrence (Rita), 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Katherina was born in Osler, Saskatchewan, on September 9, 1911. She was one of 15 children of Jacob and Margerite Heinrichs, all of whom predeceased her. She met Rosy at The Giroux Hall, their favourite dance place, and married him in the summer of 1930. They worked many years together on the Lacoste family farm where frequent gatherings and card games with family and friends took place. After Rosy passed away, she moved to Winnipeg, where she eventually met Fox. Together, they enjoyed golfing, curling, bowling and playing bridge. Travelling became Katherina's favourite pastime. The family is grateful to the Extendicare Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home for their tender, and always respectful, care and comfort. A special thank you goes to Darlene for her devotion to Nanny throughout the years. Goodbye my family My life is past I loved you all to the very last Weep not for me, but courage take Love each other for my sake For those you love don't go away They walk beside you every day Cremation has taken place. Father Phil Daley will officiate at the funeral service, which will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway #1 East and Navin Road at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17.
