DONNA EVELYN NEWMAN (nee GRAHAM) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donna (Gyp) Newman on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at Mount Sinai Hospital, at the age of 66. Beloved wife of the late Larry H. Newman, dear mother of Hilary (Mrs. Frank Lintzen), cherished sister of Allison (Scooter) McLean and predeceased by her sister Valerie (Deedo) Haugh. Donna lived a very full and colourful life. Her early years were spent in Winnipeg, Manitoba with summers at Lake of the Woods, Ontario. Following her marriage to Larry and birth of Hilary, they settled in Toronto. Here she developed many interests, among them photography, reading, crossword puzzles and antique boats and cars. Professionally, Donna was an outstanding medical secretary - a career she thoroughly enjoyed. Donna was the ultimate party person who held court wherever she went. She genuinely cared for everyone in her family and wide circle of friends. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour and her gift for storytelling. Her laughter and love will remain with us. The family will receive friends at Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Ave. West, Toronto, ON from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20. A memorial service will take place at Morley Bedford Funeral Home, on Wednesday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club, 141 Wilson Ave. Flowers gratefully declined. The family welcomes donations in Donna's name to the Canadian Cancer Society, 55 St. Clair Ave. W., Suite 500, Toronto, ON M4V 2Y7.
