MARIE LOUISE ELIZABETH SMITH (nee DAUPHINAIS) 1917 - 2009 Peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at Riverview Health Centre with her family by her side, Mom passed away at the age of 91. She will be so sadly missed. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Anita (Mike), Albert (Olga), Alain (Carole), Linda (Wayne), Terry (Val) and son-in-law John (Lucy); sisters, Florence Sul and Rita (George) Davidson; and brother Adelard Ritchot. Besides her children she leaves to mourn her grandchildren, Terry, Rodney, Michael, Chris, Dale, Lisa, Grant, Scott, Sherri, Chrystal, Patrick, Jessica, Riley and Brian. She also leaves 14 great-grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her husband Garnet in 1989, daughter Lucy in 2004, son Melvin in 1981 and son Raymond in infancy. Mom was born in Starbuck, Manitoba July 8, 1917 and lived most of her married life in Laurier, MB and Rivers, MB before moving to Winnipeg in 1975. Mom's family was her life and she loved nothing more than to be surrounded by them at family gatherings. Mom possessed a feisty strength which amazed her family and others who came in contact with her. She was a beautiful example of courage and strength to all. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their wonderful care in her final days. They would also like to thank her health care worker Socorro for her kindness and devotion to Mom over the years. She truly loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom's memory can be made to The Rainbow Society, 303 - 1 Wesley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4C6 or call 989-4010. A funeral mass to celebrate Mom's life will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
