KATHERINE BRUNKA (nee OBIREK) Her 102nd Birthday Photo It was -35 C when Mom, Babci, Pra Babci, Great-Great-Grandma, Katherine, Aunty Kay left us to go to our Heavenly Father. She died peacefully at 5:45 a.m. on January 13, 2009 after praying and waiting for her joyous day for l02 years. Katherine was born on November 5, 1906 in Cooks Creek, MB and lived in Winnipeg her whole life. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1971, her parents John and Rozalia Obirek, sister Mary, brothers John, Walter, Michael, Peter and her son-in-law George Pyrz. She leaves to cherish her memory and to carry on her legacy, her children, Angela Pyrz, Raymond (Bernie), Joanna and Patricia Fosty (Frank), nine grandchildren, 13 great-grand-children, two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Katherine was a woman of strong faith living by example to answer God's call. She had a special devotion to the Sacred Heart, St. Francis and the Rosary. Her love and commitment to family was evident in her daily life. She drew on her natural strength and talents to raise a beautiful family while creatively working with her husband Joseph in the family business. Her residence of over 60 years on Henderson Hwy was a welcome natural gathering place for family, friends and neighbours. She was a kind and gentle lady who enriched the lives of all who knew her. We will continue to celebrate the blessing of her life. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church 3597 Main St. at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Monsignor McCloskey and Reverend Fr. • Pra babci, I think about you all the time. I loved when mom dropped me off after school when I was around 12 all the time for you to watch me. You made the best sandwiches. I've never been able to make them like you did for my kids (your great-greats!) Jordyn has our 5 generation picture up in her room and loves telling everyone that she got to have a great-great babci. She calls Chris Babci, and on her own started calling Angela babci 2, and she calls you babci 3! it's so cute. I miss you. I know you prayed for me and my kids everyday, and I feel you sending us your blessings always. Please look over us now, as illness is upon our family. I'm praying for comfort and little suffering. love Melissa - Posted by: Melissa Maher (nee Kowall) (great grand daughter) on: Aug 30, 2013
