RITA MARTHA KASPER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Martha Kasper, after a short illness, on Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Kelowna hospital at the age of 78 years. Rita is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edwin, and her two sons, Werner and Erhard. She also has three sisters, Antonia, Erika, Lydia and a brother Guenther who still lives in Germany. She is predeceased by her parents, her older sister Annemarie, and younger brother Helmuth. She has three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Rita had many talents, but was particularly passionate about her garden and famous for her flowers. She immigrated from Germany in 1954 and lived in Winnipeg, where she made may friends before moving to Kelowna in 1988. A prayer service will be recited on Monday, January 19 at 7.00 p.m. at the Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 20, at 10.00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Ave., with interment to follow at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross 2280B Leckie Road, Kelowna B.C. V1X 6G6.
