FRED (THEODORE) DUDYCH Peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2009, Fred Dudych entered into eternal rest at the age of 90. Fred was born on February 26, 1918 in Chatfield, Manitoba. At a young age, his family moved to Hazelridge, Manitoba. Fred married Eva Harasymec on October 5, 1940 and they raised their children on the family farm. In 1973 Fred and Eva left the farm and moved to Winnipeg. Although semi-retired, Fred continued working at Birds Hill Provincial Park. Music was a very important part of Fred's life; he was a talented musician as well as a singer. He was an original member of the Cook's Creek Male Choir. Fred had a strong faith and was a devoted member of St. Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Church where he served as a cantor and volunteer. He also was dedicated to his family, enriching their lives with his kindness and generosity. Left to cherish his memory are son Alan (Rosemary); grandchildren, Darren, Robert (Shannon) Dudych, Angeline (Brandon) Miller, Gail, Thomas (Heather), David (Donna); great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Kristen, Joshua, Laura, Anna, Tessa Miko; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Eva in 2000; daughter Joyce (Metro) Miko; his parents, Michael and Anna Dudych; brothers, Dmytro, Bill, John, Nicholas, Alex; and his sisters, Mary, Tatianna, Nettie and Kay. Viewing will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with prayers to follow at 7:30 p.m. at St. Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 455 Douglas Avenue. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009 also at the church, with Rev. Father G. Zubacz officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Miko, David Miko, Darren Dudych, Robert Dudych, Alan Buhay, Paul Dudych and Richard Dudych. Heartfelt appreciation and thanks are extended to the wonderful staff at Holy Family Nursing Home, St. Michael's Unit, for the quality care they gave our Dad and Gido. He was treated with respect, dignity and compassion until it was time to place him in God's loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
