ELISE GAUTHIER (née DEGAGNE) 1913 - 2009 Our dear aunt passed away peacefully at Ste. Anne Hospital on January 21 at the age of 95. Born in La Broquerie, MB, she was the daughter of Charles Degagné and Rosa St. Laurent. Elise had 17 brothers and sisters, six of whom died at birth. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest and by her siblings: Dora (Paul) Dupas; Marie (Raphael) Lauzé; Jean (Cecile); Elsima (Lucien) Deschênes; Jeanne (Germain) Martel; Joseph (Roma); Eveline (Emile) Coté; Victor (Marie-Rose); Gerard (Yvette); Fernand (Cécile); and Rolande. Elise worked as a seamstress for most of her life. She took in mending and alterations in her small apartment until she was 80 and remained independent until age 88. At that time she went to live at Villa Youville in Ste. Anne, where her youngest brother already resided. She had an incredible memory and could still surprise us with a joke, right until the end. She is the last of her generation, and will be missed by many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. Duval, Sr. Rioux, and Sr. Forest for their thoughtful care. We also thank Gilberte and Cécile, whose care of her became a friendship which she very much valued at Villa Youville. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, January 24, at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald St. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086
