THELMA JEAN CRAMPTON (Lowry, Foster, Clearwater) April 14, 1928 - January 22, 2009 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at home with her beloved husband Dudley. Left to mourn and to celebrate her life is husband Dudley, daughter Darlene (Brian), son Lyle (Wendy), grandchildren Kate (Ritchie), Paul, Jamie (Dayna), Dean (Jenn) and Tana (Ryan), great-grandchildren Ainsley, Caidan, brother Arnold, sister-in-law Murial, and step family Christina (Bob), Audrey, Mark (Rissa), Angela (Mike). She will also be missed by her Vermette family and the Clearwater nephews and nieces who were a much-loved part of her extended family. Thelma was predeceased by her parents John and Kathleen Clearwater, brother Roland, brother Murray, husband Robert Lowry and the father of her children, Gordon Foster. Thelma (affectionately known as Shum) was born in Miami, Manitoba and lived in several communities in southern Manitoba with her parents and brothers. She moved into Transcona in 1956 and there she raised her 2 children. She worked at the Donut House, Shop Easy, and lastly at Central Park Lodge where she retired from to care for her ailing husband. She resided on Winona Street from 1964 ~ 2005. Mom and Dudley then moved to a condo and she loved her new home spending many hours on the patio enjoying the scenery. She also spent most of the summer with Dad out at the cottage in Lac du Bonnet. She loved to sit at the big window, asking Dad to identify the many birds and at night, watching the fire. Thelma was an active member for many years of the Fort Garry Legion BR #90 of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was always available to help wherever she could and she spent many Saturday nights at the meat draw, dances and special functions. She was also a member of the ½ Century Club and loved to go to the banquets. She made many long time friendships there. Mom was very proud of her children and grandchildren and she always was supportive and proud of any and all activities that we were part of. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). A gathering of family and friends will follow at Fort Garry Legion, 1125 Pembina Hwy. We would like to thank Dr. Eva Smil who took such good care of mom over the years.
