GERRY FAYKES Suddenly on January 23, 2009, Gerry passed away at Health Sciences Centre with family and friends at his side. Gerry was born at Vita, Manitoba, May 8, 1956 to Anne and Nick Faykes. He was predeceased by his father Nick and grand-parents, Lena and Dmytro Propkipchuk. Gerry will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his mother, Anne Faykes; sister Janice Stuyck (John); nephew Rob Desrochers (Tania); niece Diane Block (Mike) and their children, David, Justina, Sarah, Robert; many friends and business colleagues. He touched the lives of many people during his short life; he had a smile, a joke, a laugh for everyone he met. Gerry had a heart of gold and was always there to help if someone needed him. He owned Gerry's Meats and Sausage. He loved his business and all his trusted workers he treated like family. Gerry's hobbies included music, playing the violin and getting together with fellow musicians, family and friends and having fun. He loved snowmobiling, fixing and restoring vintage Polaris sleds and loved his animals and being outdoors in the country. A special thanks to staff and doctors at Health Sciences Centre - MICU. Your kindness and caring was much appreciated. A celebration of Gerry's life will be held on Saturday, January 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Oakbank Baptist Church, West on Springfield Road in Oakbank with Pastor Shane Brothers officiating the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
