EVELYN KROMLEY Peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Evelyn Kromley of East Selkirk, passed away with her family at her side, at the age of 78. Evelyn will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Bonny (Don) Hutniak; son James; grandchildren, Bonnie Lynn Castillo of the U.S.A.; Sara Hutniak of Winnipeg, and Lisa Hutniak (Joël) of Ottawa; sisters, Marge (Fred) Taylor of Vermillion Bay, ON., June (Ted) Stoyko, Pauline (Lloyd) Lefteruk; brother Art (Jane) Zegil, all of Winnipeg; and niece Lois-Lynn (George) Deuel and their son Lance of Montegalda, Italy. Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband Joe in 2004 and her parents, Paul and Annie Zegil. Evelyn was born May 18, 1930 in Selkirk, MB. Mom and dad married in 1950. Prior to getting married Mom attended Normal School (teachers' college). However because of circumstances she took a job at the Canadian Wheat Board in Winnipeg (1957 - 1974). She then decided that she had travelled enough and started a second career in the offices at the Manitoba Rolling Mills (1974 - 1991) from where she retired. Mom had been an active member of the East Selkirk Community Hall and East Selkirk Rec. Centre. She also enjoyed very much being a member of the Selkirk Royal Canadian Legion No. 42, where she not only volunteered but also met over the years a fantastic group of ladies as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary whom became dear friends. Mom enjoyed cooking for the many family gatherings that took place at our home, loved her flowers, garden and all animals, strays or otherwise. She especially loved her little puppy Dreadful . In accordance with Evelyn's wishes only a private service and viewing on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk will take place with cremation to follow. All of her fellow members of the Ladies Auxiliary as well as her many friends at the Legion are invited. The family greatly thanks Dr. Elbardisy and the doctors and nurses of the Selkirk General Hospital for their care, dedication and thoughtfulness in taking care of our mother. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Evelyn's name can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
