Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA MARY GRACIA DUNN (nee McKENZIE) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Patricia at her home on January 26, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband John D'Arcy, close cousins Peggy MacDonald and Dixie Bennett, mother Eva Catherine McKenzie (Lawlor), father Charles McKenzie, brother Johnny K., half-sister Marie Petrie, half-brother Melvin and her aunts who raised her, Nannie May and Dodie. She will be lovingly remember by sons Christopher (Hilda) and Jeffrey (Sonia), daughter Catherine (Robert); grandchildren Lauren, Kathleen, Emily, Christopher and James; the MacDonald family and the Bennett family and numerous nieces and nephews. Patricia was born in Red Deer, Alberta in 1921. She was raised in Ste. Anne and Winnipeg, attended St. Mary's Academy, graduating in 1938. She entered the Women's Royal Navy Service (Wrens) where she was a wireless telegrapher stationed in Halifax. Patricia married D'Arcy in 1944 and together they spent the next 26 years raising a family. After D'Arcy's passing, Patricia became the bread-winner for the family and spent the majority of her working life as an employment counsellor. After retiring in 1987, Patricia studied Politics, History and English at the University of Manitoba. Nannie, as she became known, played an integral role in the raising of her five grandchildren. She was well loved by all for her sense of humour, no-nonsense attitude, kindness and generosity. Her life was marked by a deep and abiding faith which helped her to provide support and guidance to all who knew her. Nannie will be deeply missed. She was our best friend. Prayers will be said on Friday, January 30th at 7:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home at 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Church, Corydon and Stafford. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rossbrook House. Thomson In the ParK 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to www.mem.com
