DEREK WILLIAM ANDREW FRYKAS It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Derek Frykas, aged 29 years, on January 27, 2009. Derek was born to parents Garry and Debbie Frykas in Dauphin on June 6, 1979. Derek completed high school in 1997 at Gillam School. He furthered his education at Red River Community College, where he received a diploma in the Electrical Engineering Technology program. He started his career with Winnipeg Hydro in 2001 and was currently employed with Manitoba Hydro, Apparatus Maintenance Department, 375 Dawson Road. Some of Derek's greatest pleasures included exercising at the gym, playing video games and listening to music; he loved his drum n' bass! He enjoyed driving his Mustang and took great pride in his belongings. Derek loved hockey and enjoyed watching the Toronto Maple Leafs with his dad. As well, he enjoyed watching martial arts with his sister. He was spontaneous and energetic. He always knew how to light up a room. He had a big heart and loved his family very much. He was a very proud uncle. He leaves behind his parents Garry and Debbie Frykas; sister Nicole, brother-in-law Si, nephew Devlin, soon to arrive niece Ava, grandfather Ted Storozuk, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. His energetic personality, including his love for life will be deeply missed by all. He will be forever in our hearts. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Francois Xavier Community Club, 983 on Highway 26. • Derek, Derrick and I met you in Gillam when you were just a little boy, maybe three years young. We actually babysat you when mom and dad were curling. You will always be remembered as the big brother you were to Nicole and the proud son of Garry and Debbie who will always love you. Derek, you will be remembered by all who knew you. You are now with God, but your heart will always remain close. Derrick, Lori, Riley and Kama. - Posted by: Derrick Kjartanson (Friend) on: Feb 01, 2009
