EILEEN MARGARET KIST (nee GABLE) June 11, 1927 January 27, 2009 Peacefully in her own home Mom was chosen to gain eternal rest with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Mom is survived by her children, Cheryl (Fred Ranacher), Tim (Gwen), Ted (Christine), and Jodi (Greg MacDonald). Her legacy also includes grandchildren, Krista (Kobus Schwartz), Lisa (Dennis Sanchez-Caro), Jared, Tylar, Tierney, Ryan, Turnar, Mitchell and Taylor and great-grandsons, Simon and Sebastian, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, JD and Lena Gable, her husband William (November, 2008), and son Tom. One of the kindest and most caring people you could ever meet, Mom was always ready when we had our friends troop in unannounced. A hug and smile, and always something to eat, made Ma Kist a favourite stop. While she was a stay at home mother for quite a while, she worked at the Canadian Wheat Board in her early years. Later, after the kids were off and running she worked at Marks and Spencer before retirement. From bowling to playing cards with the neighbourhood ladies, to regular visits with friends and families, Mom enjoyed her contact with everyone she met along her life's journey. Mom also volunteered in our activities, sewed costumes, cheered us or consoled us after our games, cooked and baked for fundraisers, and was there for us every time we needed her. When the grandchildren started arriving, this gave Mom a whole new opportunity to share her love and spoil the grandkidsin a good way. She was proud of the many talents that her grandchildren are blessed with and was very proud, yet humble, in her praise and adoration. Mom's only downfall was that she cared so much for others that she was usually pretty hard on herself or she didn't give herself enough credit. Come to think of it, the world would be a much better place if we all acted more like this. Thanks for setting the caring and sharing standard so high, Mom. I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again. Peace and rest are yours forever, Mom. We love you and miss you greatly. A memorial service celebrating Mom's life and friendships will be held on Tuesday, February 3 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church on Kimberley Avenue, Pastor Bruce Gelhorn officiating In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
