FRANCES WALTON Peacefully at Deer Lodge Centre on Sunday, January 25, 2009 Frances Walton died at the age of 92 years. Fran leaves to cherish her memory her nieces Sharon (Ken), Linda (Don), nephew Craig (Lorraine), niece-in-law Lana (Stan). Great nieces and nephews Ryan (Erin), Lana (Jason), Jeff (Renee), Michael, Scott, Kari (Kevin), Jenna, Reid and Neil. At a young age Fran and her family moved to Pine Falls. She joined the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service in 1943 and was stationed at Stadacona, Nova Scotia where she worked as a Secretary-Writer until her discharge in 1945. She retained her membership with the Ex-Wrens Association Winnipeg, Manitoba. Fran kept many contacts and great friendships through the Wrens. Moving back to Winnipeg she was employed with Guarantee Trust for many years as a bookkeeper. An early retirement allowed her time to knit and sew and care for her aging parents. We will all miss those knitted afghans, sweaters, hats and mitts and not to mention those dishcloths. Fran loved to travel and spent many years in Hawaii and Mesa, Arizona. Her feisty independent manner endeared her to all her family. Her concern and caring for her great-nieces and nephews was an important part of her life especially Michael. She was thrilled over the last four years with the arrival of her great-great-nieces and nephew Hannah, Olivia, Zoe and Samuel. To celebrate Fran's life a gathering of family and friends will be held at a memorial reception on Thursday, February 12 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Drive, Winnipeg, R2J 1C7 or to a charity of one's choice. A private family interment will take place at a later date. We love you Auntie Fran Thomson In the ParK 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to www.mem.com
