HELEN JOYCE LUCKE (nee THOMPSON) Helen Joyce Lucke (nee Thompson) of Kelowna, passed away peacefully in the Kelowna General Hospital on January 28, 2009 at the age 85 years. Helen is survived by her three sons Allen (Maureen) Thompson, Chris (Susan) Thompson and Rick Thompson; daughter-in-law: Bev (Doug) Sorensen; seven grandchildren Kevin, Michael, Allen, Brad, Cory, Ellen and Natalie and also numerous great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her first husband John Henry Thompson in 1975, her 2nd husband Ed Lucke in 1995 , son John William Thompson in 1996 and also her brother Jim and one sister Pearl. Helen lived a challenging but ultimately rewarding life, and will be particularly remembered for her generosity towards the less fortunate. The family wishes to pass special condolences to her lifelong friends and sisters-in-law Jo Groom, Mary Thompson and Betty Thompson of Winnipeg for whom Helen has great love. A Celebration of Helen's Life will be held from the Winfield United Church, 3751 Woodsdale Road, Winfield, on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place in the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
