MARION FLORENCE HRAB (nee GARDNER) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Marion, in the early morning of January 28, 2009. She is sadly missed by her son Wayne (Victoria) and her precious granddaughter Sarah Emerson of Los Angeles; her daughter Tracey (Don) of Winnipeg; her sisters Ruth Stoyan (Tony) of Barrie, Ontario and Florence (Harry) O'Donnell of Richmond Hill, Ontario and her brother Ronny (Margaret) Gardner of Toronto; sister-in-law Marie Remple of Sarnia; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins dear to her heart. She will also be missed by her faithful dog, Traylar, who was always close by her side. Mom was predeceased by her husband Steve; her father and mother Joseph and Helen Gardner; her brothers Jack, Robert and Keith; her sister-in-law Kay and brothers-in-law Steve and Irv; and her nephews Johnny Stoyan and John Hrab Jr. Mom was born in Toronto on July 30, 1929, the second eldest of seven children. Married in 1954 she spent the early years of her marriage in London, England and Paris, France. Returning to Canada on the Queen Mary, a highlight for both Mom and Dad, they settled in Winnipeg in 1957 where they designed and built their family home. Mom had a special place in her heart for little people and was a former volunteer with the Children's Aid Society. She also assisted in her daughter's grade one class when the occasion arose. She is remembered as a mother of patience and love - guiding with care and gentleness, always putting her family first. The recent birth of her first grandchild, Emmie was a lifelong wish realized and it brought a sparkle to her eyes, excitement in her voice and a smile to her heart. Mom always loved to travel back to Toronto to visit, reminisce and while away the hours in the company of her mother, sisters, brothers and large extended family. She adored time with people - listening, loving and laughing. Indeed, Mom's passion was her family and friends. She was deeply compassionate and faithful, always available when you needed her, even if it was just to listen. She lived with dignity and grace... right to the very end. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3. Mom's life will be further celebrated at a memorial service in Thornhill, Ontario. If friends so desire, donations can be sent to CNIB, Cancercare Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
