Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARJORIE CLAIRE GREEN Marjorie Claire Green, lifelong resident of Charleswood, passed away peacefully in her 96th year on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Grace Hospital. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas Patrick Green in 2001. She was also predeceased by her grandson David Andrew Deighton, as well as her sisters, Wilma and Irma and her brother Lloyd. Marjorie leaves two daughters and a son together with their children to mourn her passing: Pat (husband David, children Claire Ann, Tim and Christopher, great-grandchildren Brianna and Izabella); Connie (husband Dennis, children Kathleen and Daniel) and Michael (wife Vicki, children Holly and Reilly). She will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law, Winnie and Joan and by numerous nephews and nieces. Marjorie was born and raised in Charleswood. She attended St. Mary's Academy. After graduation she worked at the old Eaton's department store in downtown Winnipeg. She was married to her husband Tom in 1942. The couple took up residence in Charleswood where they raised their three children. Tom eventually became editor of The Winnipeg Tribune which afforded the little girl from Charleswood the opportunity to travel. Her fond memories included trips to South America, Europe and the Northwest Territories. After retirement Marjorie and Tom spent many winters in Palm Desert, California. They frequently welcomed children, grandchildren and friends to share the sun and gifted them with wonderful times and memories. Marjorie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend. Her selfless service to family, her enthusiasm for life and her innate kindness were of her essence. As a widow Marjorie spent the last seven years of her life continuing to encourage family and friends in their endeavours. The family would like to thank the current and former staff of The Wellington for their support and kindness to our parents in their latter years. We would also like to express our appreciation to the staff of the Grace Hospital for their care and thoughtfulness during our mother's last few days. The spirit of Marjorie Claire Green was captured in the words of her husband shortly before his passing: I commend to you all the light of my life, Marjorie. She was my love, companion, gentle keeper, wife, mother and family guardian for more than half a century. Cremation has taken place. A service in celebration of Marjorie's life will be held at St. Ignatius Church, Corydon and Stafford at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2009.
