Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERHARD OGILVIE September 3, 1932 - January 28, 2009 After a lengthy illness, it is with great sadness that the family of Gerhard (Gary) announces his peaceful passing in St. Joseph's hospital at the age of 76 years. He was born and raised in Renwer, Manitoba. He moved to Pine Falls, Manitoba where he worked for Abitibi Price Paper Mills. He later moved to Beardmore, Ontario where he lived for several years continuing his work as a power saw operator with Abitibi and also with McMillan Bloedell. The last 30 years he spent in Thunder Bay working for Abitibi and then the City of Thunder Bay until retirement. Gerhard (Gary) loved the outdoors. He spent his spare time fishing, hunting, camping, berry picking or just walking in the woods, and sitting by the lake. He also made time nearly every day to bike to Robins Donuts to have coffee with his friends. Most of his summers were spent fishing in Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba. He loved life, people and animals, especially his cat. He was predeceased by mother, Charlotte; father, Ernst Ogilvie of Swan River, and son, James, of Thunder Bay. He is survived by wife, Alice (Vis), son, Darren and his wife Dr. Tamra Ogilvie and granddaughter, Ryleigh, of London, Ontario; daughter Francis Ogilvie and friend, Andrew Grieve, of Terrace Bay, Ontario; sister Marguerita Ogilvie and friend, Wayne Brown, of Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba. He is also survived by numerous relatives in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and Germany. He will be greatly missed by his family, his relatives, his many friends and his cat Sophie. Many thanks to the staff of St. Josephs Hospital as well as TBRHSC for all their wonderful care. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in memory of Gerhard Ogilvie to The Northern Cancer Research Centre or Hope Christian Reformed Church. Memorial Service took place Monday, February 2, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Hope Christian Reformed Church.
