Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON WAYNE KERNESTED March 7, 1940 - February 1, 2009 In loving memory of Gordon Kernested, who passed away with loving wife Louise by his side at home in Stonewall. He will be forever cherished by his sons Carl and Leigh Kernested, daughter-in-law Adrienne Butler-Kernested and grandchildren Liam and Morgan Butler and Dhillon Kernested (Brandi). He is survived by his brother Wally Kernested, brother-in-law Jim (Mae) Pankiw, sisters-in-law Louella (Leonard) Kernested, Rhoda (Herbert) Kernested, Stella (David Kern) Kernested, Marion (Paul) Kernested, Elaine (Barry) Jefkins and numerous nieces and nephews. Gordon also leaves behind many friends that loved him dearly and whom he loved and respected with all his heart. He touched so many people in his life, both young and old, and will always be remembered in their hearts. Gordon was predeceased by his mother and father Johannes and Arnthora, his aunt Katrina who was like a mother to the boys and his brothers Leonard, Herbie, Kern, and Paul. Gordon started his life growing up on the family farm in the R.M. of Siglunes just south of the Narrows Manitoba with his five brothers. He married the love of his life Louise in 1968 and they started their life and family together on the farm. Always wanting to do more, he moved south to the Stonewall area where he operated several businesses, most notable Kern Korner. He was involved in numerous organizations in the community including the local Chamber of Commerce, Legion, Agricultural Society and Stonewall Lions with whom he was a charter member since 1985 serving in numerous positions including President and Chair of the Manor Board on which he sat from 1988 to date. He was particularly proud of his contribution to the development of the Lions Manor where he lived out his final days. Gordon loved his family and friends dearly and we will keep his memory alive by living our lives caring for others as he did. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Stonewall Lions Club Medical Fund in aid of Diabetes and Heart Conditions care of Gary Durant, Lions Manor, 622 Centre Avenue, Stonewall Manitoba, R0C 2Z0. A celebration of his life and accomplishments will be held Friday, February 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall, MB. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
