VERNON ARTHUR (VERN) McGREGOR Passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, January 30, 2009 at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home in Winnipeg at the age of 84 years. The family would like to thank Dr. Loepp and all the angels who cared for Vern so well and made his days brighter during his stay at Bethania. Vern will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 58 one-half years, Barbara and their children Janice McGregor, Douglas (Suzanne) McGregor and Ann (Allan) Roehl; and four grandchildren, Scott and Katelyn Roehl and Sara and Megan McGregor. Vern is also survived by his sister Marilyn (Tom) Prentice of Vernon, BC. He was predeceased by his sister Louise McGregor. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, James McPherson, sister-in-law, Evelyn (Rick) Howard and numerous nieces and nephews. Vern retired from Canadian National Railway in 1986 after 33 years of service. Vern was the Regional Engineer of Signals and Communications, Prairie region and enjoyed lifelong friendships with many railway colleagues. Vern was also an active member of many fraternal organizations during his lifetime. A celebration of Vern's life will be held at Churchill Park United Church at 525 Beresford Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined in lieu of donations to the Parkinson Society Manitoba or the Lung Association Manitoba.
