RUDOLF DOTZLAW Peacefully, on February 3, 2009, with family by his side, Rudy Dotzlaw, beloved husband of Elfriede, went to be with his Lord and Saviour at the age of 78 years. Rudy leaves to mourn his loving wife of 45 years, Elfriede; his sons, Reinhard (Marlene), Helmut (Angelika) and Gerhard (Teresa); his daughter Birgit; grandchildren, Andrew, Emily, Justin, Katrina and Ryan; sister Alma and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his first wife, Neta and an infant daughter, Christel. Rudy accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour in 1952 and was baptized later that year. He faithfully attended services at the Church of God in Winnipeg until he became too ill to do so. Rudy was born in the Ukraine and emigrated from Germany at the age of 18, with his mother and sister. He then practiced his trade as a metal fabricator until retirement. He was also a talented carpenter who used his skills to help others. He was an avid gardener, who loved all of God's creatures and will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul. The family is grateful for the wonderful care Rudy received these last few years from the staff at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Church of God, 705 Concordia Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be at the Church of God from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Donwood Manor Personal Care Home or the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
