DALE REED OWEN Peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 after a long battle with cancer which he faced with the quiet resolve, dignity and inner strength that were so characteristic of the way he lived his life. Dale was blessed in many ways, none more significant than by his wonderful 52 year marriage to his wife Eleanor, who survives him and was a constant source of strength and support. Dale also had a 39 year banking career with CIBC that he truly loved. He was a banker's banker when it came to details but what really distinguished him was his gift for dealing with people, not just in good times but also during the inevitable challenges some clients faced. Dale was born on June 1, 1928 in Kitscoty, Alberta and is survived by the five siblings that he became very close to growing up together on the family farm; Stanley, Alberta, Douglas, Dorothy and Marilyn. Dale is also survived by his daughters Pamela, Karen and Janine (Paul) and four loving grandchildren, Carly, Paige, Marija and Max. He also had numerous nieces and nephews all of whom have fond memories of their uncle Dale. A Celebration of Dale's life will be held at Crescent United Church, 2756 127th Street, Surrey, B.C. on Sunday, February 15 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated.
