Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALAN FORBES JOHNSTON November 9, 1928 - February 3, 2009 A long time resident of East Kildonan, Alan passed away after a lengthy illness. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Murill (nee Morrow), children Andrea and Bruce, grandchildren Michael, Ryan and Rebecca. He is survived by his older brother James (late Wanda) of BC, sister Lynn Robertson and their families; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Johnston, Edmonton, George Morrow (late Gwen) and Bob Morrow (Margery), Welland, and their families. Also numerous loved cousins, nieces and nephews, here and across Canada. Alan was predeceased by Scot-born parents James M. and Helen (Nell Cheyne) Johnston, also grandparents and aunts, who cared for Alan during the Second World War; his beloved brother George (2002), and Robert and Elsie Morrow, his parents-in-law. Alan was a long time employee of Canada Packers, St. Boniface. He started on weekends as a draughtsman, while still in high school. He retired after 43 years as the Mechanical Foreman. He made many long-time friends, playing bridge at lunch, golfing and curling at the Heather in C.P.'s leagues. Alan designed the family cottage and had happy times there. Memorial service will be held Monday, February 9, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg, across from Kildonan Park, with Reverend Heather Sandilands officiating.
