Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH ( BETTY ) HARLOW ( nee Adams ) Peacefully, on February 4, 2009 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital, our cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Betty Harlow, passed away at age 89 years. Predeceased by her husband Ronald (1989) and brothers, William (Bill) and George Adams, Betty leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her children, George (Beverly), Bruce and Louise; grandchildren, Susan (Mike), Richard, Christin (Pier), Tracey; and a great-granddaughter, Lily. Betty grew up on Sidney Avenue in East Kildonan. After graduation, she was employed in Administration Records at the original Grace Hospital. Ronald and Betty met and married June 4, 1947 and together they raised their family in Transcona. In latter years she worked part time as a bookkeeper at Park City Paints in Transcona. She had been an active member of the Transcona Memorial United Church and also a proud member of the Monarchist League of Canada. The monthly card game of Canasta with good friends was an important social event at Betty's home. A wonderful host at her Regent Avenue home, Betty provided wonderful meals, featuring her famous apple pie and perogies, for all the family holiday dinners. Besides a terrific cook, Betty's many skills included sewing, crochet and knitting. Although a quiet person at heart, Betty was a good listener to all. Always a loving, caring, supportive person to both her family and friends, she will be missed by all. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Seven Oaks 4 U 11 for the care and compassion extended to their mother. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street with Rev. Jeff Cook officiating. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery.
