STANLEY GEORGE ANDERSON Born May 26, 1915 in St. Laurent, Manitoba. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather died peacefully in his home in Vancouver, BC on January 27, 2009 at the age of 93 years. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of 67 years; sons, Floyd (Sandy), Ken (Maureen), Rod (Louise) and daughter Diane (Bill). Stan will also be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. During the Second World War, Stan joined the Saskatoon Light Infantry in 1939 and while serving overseas, he trained in England before fighting in the front lines in Sicily, Italy and finishing his tour of duty in Holland. After the war Stan returned to Winnipeg in 1945 where he was reunited with his war bride Dorothy and son Floyd. He finished his certification to become a Stationary Engineer working at Winnipeg Cold Storage. In 1967, Stan and family then moved to Vancouver where he worked at Shaughnessy Hospital until he retired in 1980. In retirement, Stan volunteered with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed watching and attending his favourite sport, horse racing. Funeral arrangements are to be private as per his request. Stan's final resting place will be Ocean View Cemetery, Burnaby, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion.
